We're delighted that, for the first time in 5 years, there's a Thy Kingdom Come 'celebration service at Exeter Cathedral on Pentecost Sunday. This is an ecumenical event and we'd love as many churches as possible to bring a group for an inspiring evening of prayer and worship led by Bishop Jackie and Bishop James, with music led by Andy Flannagan and a talk from Ruth Valerio.
Event Main Speaker: Ruth Valerio
Ruth is an environmentalist, theologian and social activist. She is Global Advocacy and Influencing Director at Tearfund and also Canon Theologian at Rochester Cathedral. Her home church is part of the 24/7 Prayer Network. She is the author of L is for Lifestyle: Christian Living that doesn’t cost the earth, Just Living: Faith and Community in an age of Consumerism, and the children's book - Planet Protectors: 52 ways to look after God's world. She also wrote the Archbishop of Canterbury’s 2020 Lent book, entitled Saying Yes to Life. Ruth is a regular contributor on Radio 4 and the BBC World Service. Se is also the co-founder of the Oikos Network: a global network of peer mentoring groups for Christian environmental leaders from all over the world.
Worship Leader: Andy Flanagan
Andy is the Executive Director for ‘Christians in Politics’ and a gifted singer / songwriter. Andy recently led the worship during our full day of prayer at Exeter Cathedral at the start of Advent 2023 and will now lead us again as we unite as Christians for Thy Kingdom Come.
Churches Together in Devon
We will also be joined for the Pentecost event by Rev'd Dr Ben Aldous, who is the Principle Officer for Mission and Evangelism for Churches Together in England, as well as representatives from different denominations across Devon.
We hope that our worship together will draw you closer to God, and inspire you to pray for God’s kingdom here in Devon.
