Hello

I am brother Keith Nelson, a brother of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist.

As monks, we are men of prayer, and we aspire to help others deepen their self-offering to Jesus by praying their whole lives.

One ancient and traditional form of prayer is simply to “rest” with Jesus in God’s holy Silence.

In our SSJE rule of life, we encountered these words:

"In the radical simplicity of contemplative prayer, we surrender ourselves to the mystery beyond words of Christ’s abiding in us, and our abiding in him, close to the Father’s heart."

Silence prepares us for that gift of contemplation, so today I would like to offer an invitation: to make the time and space for five minutes to be with Jesus in God’s Holy Silence, and to share with me, right now, about thirty seconds of Silence, simply to be with Jesus, in the presence of God, without words.

[silence]

In our words, and in our silence, Thy Kingdom Come, Amen.
